- 有分層的記憶,每天的決策會被濃縮、歸檔,隔天不用我重講一次;
- 照著心跳運作:早上整理新聞、固定時間做功課、排程壞了會自己修好再回報;

Hsu-Yu Chen “Walkup”I work in digital transformation. I also write film reviews, build websites, and work alongside a crew of AI counterparts.
My work is a mixed bag, with one thing in common: when there’s something I don’t understand, I want to figure it out.
About Me
When someone asks what I do, I often pause. I never know which identity to lead with; it depends on the occasion and on who’s asking.
If I had to sum it up, it’s “digital transformation.” I like automating workflows so people can stay at the decisions that matter most. Take a business that isn’t online yet: I take it apart, wire it to data, and let it produce results you can read at a glance and use for analysis and decisions. I’ve been doing that for twenty years. After work, I write film reviews and poems, build websites, have written copy for music albums, run sustainability workshops with friends, and built a whole set of AI counterparts to work alongside.
Friends once gave me three words: versatile, daring, perceptive. I have no prominent family name to lean on. What got me here is a different kind of skill: being willing to walk into unfamiliar places and find my own way.
Travel taught me that skill first. When I was young I traveled a little wild: hitchhiking, sleeping on strangers’ couches. In my years living in China I walked the Silk Road and the Great Wall. Mount Hua, up and down in a single day. I crossed the broken ramparts of Jiankou; in Dunhuang I rented a jeep and drove out to see the unrestored wild Wall. I went from Xishuangbanna across Laos all the way to Cambodia. The Heavenly Lake in the Tianshan mountains had frozen over, and I walked on the ice. On the road to Kathmandu in Nepal, I ended up at a stranger’s wedding.
Traveling and sightseeing are two different things. Sightseeing is finishing the scenery. Traveling is throwing yourself into a place with no script, where you have to choose and let go within a very short time, and then the road becomes clear.
Isn’t work the same? The world changes, business changes, no route is guaranteed to work, so you walk and watch. That’s why I tend to pick the spot others find most troublesome. A traditional food group, sixteen years old, handed me the part that was most unfamiliar to them: the internet. A department of fewer than seven people tripled online revenue. For a 500-person medical group I built the digital department from zero. For a produce brand with revenue past NT$100M and almost entirely offline channels, I took e-commerce from 0 to more than a quarter of revenue. As a consultant I coached six businesses through transformation in a single year: guesthouses, galleries, a grocer, restaurants, education, small startup studios.
But those are only jobs. I’ve always believed that whether someone is worth working with depends not just on what they can do, but on how they think and how far they’re willing to go to get things done well. So this page first introduces a few different sides of me.
A Few Sides of Me
Outside of work, these are me too.
WordsAfter a story ends, I always want to say something
I run a film-review blog called “走著瞧 Up Next,” writing about movies and series, and the occasional poem. For me, writing isn’t an extension of work. It’s a way of sorting things out: saying what I’ve watched and thought, in my own words, properly, once. The habit seeps into work too. Whether an email, a slide deck or an ad lands with people often comes down to whether you’ve said it in plain human language.
CrossoverThe same hands, many kinds of work
I’ve written copy and done translation for music albums. With friends, under the name Cultu-re (Culture Lab), I’ve run sustainability-themed workshops, and I co-founded an escape-room studio with a partner. These collaborations have taken me to Malaysia, Vietnam, Beijing and Shanghai. The work is very different, but at heart it’s the same thing: turning an idea into something that really moves.
ArtStanding with creators
My work with the art world goes back a while. Early on, in Los Angeles, I worked as an art agent: interviewing artists, managing design and production. Later I took part in the special exhibition “移動人,” and worked with painter Evan (毅鋒) on his solo show, Evan Show. What art taught me is concrete: getting an artwork seen and getting a business seen take the same set of skills.
WebFrom Flash to today
I started building websites early, back when Flash was still in use. I went on to HTML, and then to today. I run a movie-information site of my own, “追影人 Movie Watcher,” built from nothing and updated continuously, and I handle its SEO, AEO and GEO optimization and monitoring myself (in plain terms: making it findable not just by Google but by AI answer engines too). Technology is only a tool to me. Getting things made is what matters.
AII’m not “using” AI. I’m raising a team.
Most people use AI by opening a chat box: one question, one answer. I’ve gone a bit further. I built myself an AI system that remembers things, and I call it Walkup Agent. It isn’t a chatbot. It is three AI counterparts with a division of labor (running on Claude, Codex and Gemini), sharing one knowledge base and one set of rules, checking each other’s work, and reading each other’s learning notes so they improve together.
It remembers, and it acts on its own, which is quite different from ordinary use:
- Layered memory: each day’s decisions are condensed and archived, so I don’t have to explain anything twice the next day;
- It runs on a heartbeat: sorting the news in the morning, doing its homework at set times, and when a schedule breaks, fixing it itself and then reporting;
- The important red lines answer only to me, so it can’t be tricked into acting by sentences hidden in a web page or a file.
With it I’ve built a fan-page pipeline that reviews and publishes its own posts, a LINE bot that shields my family from scams, a virtual stock-market practice run under strict rules, and a writing workflow that strips the “AI smell” from its own drafts and has them cross-reviewed.
My understanding of AI isn’t “will it replace me?” but “can I design a structure that lets it carry part of the load reliably?” What I build is architecture, rules and governance. That’s a different thing from treating AI as a wishing machine, as most people do.
